how many types of lava flows are there and what are their characteristics? Hi; I´m looking for the types of lava flows. I know the most general are pahoehoe, aa and pillow lavas. I'd want to know more about the lava flow types. For example, there are some special pahoehoe flows that have a specific name, and another ones, like Pele's hair and Pele's tears. That's all. Thanks.

How can a lava flow create lightning? In 1963 the island of Sertsey was formed off of the coast of Iceland when a lava flow below sea level reached the ocean's surface. The eruption lasted until 1965. During the creation of the island there were intense lightning storms seen. Not sure if the island part matters or not. Thanks!
