How much does it cost for things from Wal-Mart in Oahu, Hawaii compared to the mainland US?

Going to Oahu, Hawaii for my honeymoon with my husband in a couple of months and heard about things in Hawaii costs more than the mainland. Around how much more? Same with other stores, give or take? 1. It depends on what you're looking for. Keep in mind that if you're using Walmart as your guide, which Walmart you go to will determine the price. The Walmart in Honolulu proper (and Pearl City) for that matter will cost more than the ones in Mililani and Kunia (since the first two are classfied as being in the main section of Honolulu and the second two are classified as being in the outskirts of town). Keep in mind that our Walmarts are NOT supercenters so the amount of groceries you can purchase are limited to a small amount of perishable items such as milk, frozen items such as pizza, and staples such as bread. Often times, the grocery items are cheaper at a regular grocery store or even places like Costco. Hope that helps.....good luck, happy travels, and congratulations!
2. The cost here is a little bit more but no in all areas. Dairy, Fruit (yes, even pineapple, lol) is abit more but not ridiculus. My parents just came to visit and my mom (an avid Wal-Mart shopper) was happily suprised that is wasnt much of a difference. I dont know what you are talking about these "killer bugs" lol. I only notice the bugs after a rain and it looks like you will not be coming in rainy season =) Just dont shop in tourist areas. Go to Wal-Mart, not ABC. Go to the Flea Market at the stadium and not the Waikiki strip and you will save yourself a fair amount on the same things =) Aloha!
