What would be the best way to see the Volcano national park & some other sites also on the Big Island?
We will only have 1 full day on the Big Island. We have never been to the Big Island & I want to see everything that I can in that day such as black sand beach, green sand beach, volcano national park with flowing lava, mauna mac nut factory, waterfalls, but I was wondering if driving ourselves or taking a tour would be best & if it would be best to do tour(s) which company do you suggest.

- you wont be able to do all those things in one day--i went to big island for 2 weeks and that was just enough time to do all that ... fyi--green sand beach requires either a 4x4 vehicle or a 2 mile hike to get to...volcano nat'l park will take up a whole day on its own especially if you do a couple side hikes which are abundant (the Devastation Trail was my favoprite) one more thing--you wont be able to see the flowing lava in the daytime--my girlfriend and I made the mistake of hiking to it in the morning and almost died from heat exhaustion even though it was only about a 1.5 mile hike and we are in good shape---you have to hike to it at night my advice is to pick one attraction and explore it thoroughly--your best bet for one day may be valocanoe park--- laslty, the waterfalls are on the Hilo side which are a good couple hours drive from black sand beach and volcanoe park
