Has anyone stayed at Volcano House at Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii?
Is it nice? Do you recommend it? Any tips or recommendations on the room type. I see that prices range from $100-$225/night. Is it worth getting a crater view room? Any other thoughts?

- In looking at the reviews on tripadvisor, I do not think the more expensive rooms are worth the money. Check out this other place called the Volcano Tree House. The treetop room looks awesome! http://www.volcanotreehouse.com/cedar_cottage.html
- IDK, it's only about 30 miles from Hilo where the rooms are much less expensive and there are more options to eat. I would make it a day trip to go hiking.
- I’ve been through the lobby of Volcano House and it looks like a great place. However, I would highly recommend Kilauea Lodge as an alternative. It is one mile from the entrance of Volcanoes National Park. http://www.kilauealodge.com/ Even if you choose not to stay there dining at their restaurant is a must. I consider it to be the best restaurant in the state. http://www.kilauealodge.com /cgi-bin/KLodge?!00butoru TnanIoOodf7AKj38t2nhn 1eXImCN0Eef8eC1Tlr6afe 9QldSegeHv1bOT 9ntnjaam0nnro7CK63qre AdTdfzIonUrgvkv228 fvg0Nfi9modSe5vBF5CZRvg0 Be sure to check out their daily menu. The Duck L’Orange is to die for, and everything else they serve is great.
